Join our team
Would you like to work for an organisation that treats you better? We’ve created a working environment where colleagues can pursue worthwhile and rewarding careers in a supportive and collaborative way, where creativity and productivity are encouraged, recognised and valued.
Working at the Tipton
As a smaller mutual building society, our colleagues are working in a friendly and professional environment where their paths cross daily with senior team members. This enables the sharing of thoughts and recommendations and supports collaborative working where colleague’s views are respected and considered.
Our head office is based in the centre of Tipton, with local amenities including a local park and canal suitable for lunch time walks and a local train station connecting to nearby city centres including Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
We are committed to supporting our local community and colleagues have an opportunity to volunteer to support various local good causes. Each year we identify a colleague nominated charity and organise a variety of fun events to raise funds and awareness in support of these.
The Society has a Charitable Foundation which makes regular donations to local organisations such as schools, community groups and charities. We also support fundraising for the Midlands Air Ambulance through our Midlands Air Ambulance Saver account, where at the end of each year we make a donation to the charity based on the balances held in these accounts, at no cost to our members.
We are firmly committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace in which all colleagues are valued, respected, safe, supported, and listened to without judgement or prejudice. We celebrate difference and encourage everyone to join us and be themselves at work.

What our colleagues say
I joined the society because it was clear that there’s real ambition to grow and do as much as possible for our communities, I wanted to be part of that journey. At a time where banks are exiting the high street, and access to cash has become a national issue, the Tipton are bucking that trend and looking to expand our presence in our communities, and that resonated with me.
I’ve really liked how approachable and welcoming everyone has been, everyone I’ve met regardless of department, has been willing to help and support me in developing my understanding of how things workHarjit, Head of RetailI enjoy being part of the Tipton’s positive culture. There is a great sense of community, meaning teamwork is always a pleasure! I’ve built many friendships with my colleagues over the last 25 years, making it a happy place to work. I have always felt valued as a member of staff and very much appreciated by customers too.
Kate, IT Support AnalystThere is a sense of belonging at the Society and a feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself. You are working for a company whose main focus is about helping its customers in all stages of their lives, for both savings and mortgages, and providing a very professional but also personal service along the way. It’s great to be a part of that.
The development of colleagues is at the forefront of the Society’s mind, and knowing that I will be given the opportunity to progress and be successful was a key factor in my long tenure with the Society.Matthew, Senior Mortgage UnderwriterI have enjoyed working for Tipton & Coseley Building Society for 25 years. The main reasons for this are the people I work alongside and the customer service we offer, which is exceptional. This makes my role very rewarding but can be challenging at times.
